This sifter is truly a favourite. I find it easier to sift ingredients through the flat mesh bottom onto parchment paper, and it nests nicely into a bowl so I can measure my dry ingredients right into it. Just a light tap on the sides and your flours and spices sift in quickly.

anna's top tips

  • You can also use this sifter for dusting the tops of cakes with icing sugar.
  • The reason recipes call for sifting dry ingredients is twofold: first, it aerates and lightens you flour and removes any lumps and second, it incorporates smaller measures of ingredients (baking powder, spices) into the dry ingredients before it reaches the wet, so everything will be evenly blended.
